★ cactus nursery ★

I am officially a cactus lover and I felt inspired by the nursery designed by Stockholm based designer Maria, owner of Tellkiddo, and that gorgeous cactus wallpaper by Anewall.

We’ve seen cacti decorating living rooms, bedrooms, desks and bookcases, and now they seem to be quite trendy for kids bedrooms too. Although you wouldn’t put a real cactus in a toddler’s room,  the big variety of sizes and shapes make cacti a very interesting motif for patterns and other designs.

The green hues of cactus designs in combination with natural rattan furniture and jute accessories achieve a modern and playful look in little people’s bedrooms and playrooms.

What do you think? Like the idea?

★ trip down memory lane ★

I am a sucker for a children’s toy range that bring a modern twist to some traditional classics. So it is no surprise why I am caffeinated by the brand new range fromSuch Great Heights. Aptly named ‘The Nostalgia Collection’ this fresh new gathering of toys takes you on a marvellous trip down memory lane to a time when you yourself were playing wooden toys and dollies on a shag pile rug…

The 5 piece timber toy range has been designed in appreciation of the authentic shapes and superior craftsmanship of toys from simpler times. Contemporary colours and unexpected textures are cleverly woven through the story to bring continuity to this distinctive keepsake collection.

Adding to the nostalgic romance of this collection is the fact that it has been designed by the very clever Such Great Heights and brought to life by an amazing little working group in South Australia.

So, if you are also a sucker for beautifully designed and exquisitely crafted homewares you must head over to the Such Great Heights website here.

★ Mr. Maria Miffy ★

I would like to introduce another stylish essential for your kids room – the bunny lamp “Mr. Maria Miffy”. You can find this lamp in every hip & cool kids room.

The character Miffy was founded by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. He would tell his one year old son stories about a little bunny he had once seen while on holiday in a village off the coast of the North Sea. Hence, miffy (or nijntie in Dutch) was born. To know miffy is to love miffy. Even if you’re not familiar with this cute and quirky character from Holland’s best-selling children’s book series (*), you can still invite her into your home to light up your life.

Mr Maria is a Dutch design studio based in Amsterdam. The studio was founded by Jannes Hak and Lennart Bosker. From the name and the logo you can conclude that they are a brand with a playful artistic character. Mr Maria aims to create eye-catching products for children of all ages. Shaping clouds into pure, clean and warm creations is our main goal as designers. “We don’t make products, we create stars!”

If it’s fun you want, I highly recommend checking out their full range over on their website: http://mrmaria.com/.
